TOUR DIARY #8: GUELPH, ON
Hillside Festival
Man, it's hot! Guelph is beautiful, I'd never been here before, and I was very hungry. We played a fun workshop and saw Royal City play, they were great, especially Bob Wiseman's excellent dancing. We went on at 6 o'clock in the direct path of the angry, angry sun. Hot-plate stage. I couldn't tell if we bored the hillside audience to death, or if they felt sun-stroked too.
They were just lying there all limp and dehydrated, they were drying like worms on the sidewalk. They looked so sad, jeez, I hope it wasn't our music! Maybe it was my ever-bothersome PMS paranoia manipulating my imagination. Dear Guelph, please have us back again soon (preferably in the winter)!! Love, Neko
Good food advice for Guelph: a nice lady named Amanda told us about a restaurant downtown called "Black Mustard." It was amazing! Great service, yummy, yummy food. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it. Really fresh, high quality meat and vegetables. Kick-ass chocolate souffle! The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. I stuck my head in the kitchen to compliment the chef, he looked at me like he was gonna start crying. He thanked me profusely for thanking him. Canadians! They had washcloths in the bathroom to wash your face. How thoughtful!
