TOUR DIARY #9: WAKEFIELD, QC

The Black Sheep Inn
Rest stop on the 401, Ontario Jesus!
The Pope is in Toronto, and the traffic is insane! The place is packed with hungry Catholics. They are like locusts, eating everything in sight. It's down-right biblical! I've never seen such line-ups for fast food! The Catholics were very nice, they held doors for old ladies and didn't pee on the toilet seats! Not to mention, there was no pushing in the line for french fries.

Best thing said all day: Jennifer Rauhouse, "I have this chocolate bar that's really troubling me, I'm going to have to eat it."

Lovely, lovely Wakefield on the river. We arrive here on the hottest day of the year. As well as hosting the Pope, eastern Canada is hosting a massive heat wave. Which is funny 'cause I'm not in a "heat wave" mood. The Black Sheep Inn is a big old hotel/bar. It's supposedly haunted. I've played here with Miss Carolyn before and I've never seen or heard anything odd. I wish I would though, nobody wants to be scared out of their wits by a ghost more than me. What a sucker, I believe in ghosts but I've never seen one. How sad. Are you all playing a big joke on me? What about you Leonard Nimoy?! You with your ghosts and your sasquatches and whatnot!!! I believed you!!!

The show was really fun, lots of people came despite the heat. They were kind as hell. Lots of folks came from Ottawa, including my friend Tim, who used to be in a great band called The Knurlings. Sadly, I didn't get to talk to him, so Tim, if you are reading this: Hi!, I miss you, give my love to Pat and the rest of the Knurlings! Damn. I hate it when that happens. Sometimes you are late, or in and out of a town so fast, you see people you really miss, but only in a frenzied rush. It makes me feel bad because I'm not the sort of person to blow people off, but sometimes I'm sure it seems that way. I'm sorry! It is a job after all. (A job that resembles an eight-headed hydra no less). Goodnight Canada! Sweet dreams.
