TOUR DIARY #11: CASTLE CLNTON

Battery Park Show
Best thing said all day during New York heatwave: Tom Ray, "My pants feel like four layers of hot lettuce."

We are all very excited today because we are gonna play with Laura Cantrell. I've always wanted to see her. We met Laura and her band at soundcheck. We're all going to get along splendidly. Especially Jon and her steel player. Just try to shut-up a couple guys who play steel guitar, forget it. Soundcheck is fucking blazing hot. Heatwave be damned! The show itself was great. Laura and her band were top notch, there were lots of people and the sun had finally gone most of the way down. The sound at Castle Clinton was amazing, and the people who organized it were very kind.

There were foxy forest rangers in their foxy forest ranger outfits running around keeping the peace. "Wilderness Enforcers" in the Big Apple. I wish my name was prefaced with "Ranger." "Yes Ranger Neko, I will certainly be more careful with matches." I would probably abuse my power though: "Yes Ranger Neko, I will immediately strip off my cover-alls and tool belt." I love men who know how to build things......Oh yes! Back to the show! Thank you New Yorkers!!!! You made our day. We talked about what a good time we had the next 12 soggy hours home to Chicago.
