TOUR DIARY #13: NANCY SINATRA

Ok, right now I'm on a plane with Nancy Sinatra! It freaks me out! But not quite as much as it freaked me out to watch her perform "Purple Rain" last night at the Oya Festival. Holy shit!!! Wow!!!

She was wearing thigh-high gold spike heel go-go boots and a mini-skirt among other glittery things. At one point she choo-chooed over to the side of the stage and danced around Carl and Blaine, I shit you not! After the show we were too shy to ask to get a picture with her, so lovely Ellen, one of our kind Norwegian promoters, asked for us. Nancy obliged. I said every fucking stupid and annoying thing you can say to a member of the American Royal Family, I'm an idiot. The look on her face confirmed this, but she was very nice. This is why I don't speak to celebrities, what the fuck am I gonna say that some other drooling moron hasn't already? She did all the greats; Sugartown, You Only Live Twice, Born to be Wild, Like a Rolling Stone, etc...

Anyway back on the plane, Blaine and I stood in line for the bathroom forever. The most disgusting bathroom smell lingered around us. I think somebody went to the Oslo dump and ate some garbage before they got on the plane. This is part of the head-swelling glamour that surrounds us as a rock n' roll band. Don't they know Nancy's on the plane?!

Conclusion: The festival was very exciting. We saw Nancy and Will Oldham was good, but I have to say my favorite was "Peru You," Oslo's waffle-making charmers. I bought their CD called "On the Sea In the Sea" - it's really great, check them out if you get a chance.
