TOUR DIARY #23: TIGERS TOUR - AUSTIN
Kelly Hogan! She's here! Oh how I missed her. And surprise! She brought Augie! It sure is nice to be back at the Parish. All who work here are kind and loving and talented.
There is a sadness in the air though, these are the last two shows. I sure am gonna miss everybody. We've had such a good time. It was one of those magical tours where you make new friends, see lots of old friends and feel like family. Matt and Mike have shotgun-converted me to Judaism for this trip. I'm getting better at singing the Hanukkah Prayer. I think they felt out numbered. Kelly and Travis are next. I don't think people who are orthodox say "Drop the puck! Let's go!" after lighting the Menorah however. The shows were good. It was vocal porn to have Hogan on board. Sam got food poisoning and so the Sadies backed Dexter up on "Mexicali Baby", "Lonely Guy "and "309". Wow, they were giddy. Luckily, Sam felt better on the second night and they did a smokin' version of "Rain On Me". I felt like I was eighteen. (in a good way, not like really being eighteen). The shows were really fun. At the end of the last night I felt totally exhausted, however, I unwisely chose to attend a party. Fun yes, but I drank some plum sake and ate some Totino's pizza, I passed out (not from the drinking, but from the working) and woke up covered in hives. A very interesting end to this tour. We drowned our sorrows in BBQ, then Kelly, Matty, Augie and I set out for lovely Tucson to go back into the recording studio, then in a week back to Chicago where we will celebrate stupid old Christmas. And so continues the truckdriver-gladiator-mule saga of our lives.
